I am a researcher with over fifteen years of experience in using evidence and insight to inform the design, management and evaluation of projects and services. I have also contributed to policy development.
I have been working as a freelancer since 2015 when I left the New Economics Foundation to undertake my Masters. Since then, I have collaborated as an associate with the New Economics Foundation, Centre for Thriving Places, Envoy Partnership and Workwhile.
I have also worked in-house as a contractor in fixed term roles at NSPCC and Sustrans, and worked directly with other freelancers to deliver consulting projects, particularly for small charities and community groups.
My work cuts across thematic areas and methodological approaches. Since 2015, I have mostly been working on place-based approaches to delivering social change, and the development of actors and connections across social movements. This runs from working with community based music venues to understand and share the impact of their work on their neighbours to supporting the development of region-wide outcome frameworks for inclusive economy. And everything in between! I’m particularly interested in making the connections between people and organisations who are already doing great work and how we can build on what’s already working.
Prior to freelance work, I led NEF Consulting’s research into families, young people and public health. This included working with commissioners to design outcomes-based commissioning approaches, and supporting measurement systems which help them to maximise value gained from local activities. I also worked at GLE Consulting, leading research and evaluation into worklessness, child poverty and sustainable enterprise development.
I have volunteered or been part of a number of community initiatives including with the Voice of Domestic Workers, Chayn and Hestia Hellas.
I have a BSc in Mathematics with Statistics from the University of Manchester and an MSc in Social Policy and Social Research from the Institute of Education, UCL, London.
